Michès Playa Esmeralda Dominican Republic

We had an amazing stay at Club Med Michès.

The location is simply breathtaking—a true paradise with a long white-sand beach, crystal-clear turquoise water, lush palm trees, and no buildings in sight. It really feels like you're alone on a pristine tropical island.

The facilities are modern, spotless, and beautifully designed, creating a relaxed and elegant atmosphere throughout the resort.

The GO team is outstanding. Nico at the water sports center stands out for his kindness and positive energy. Hugo at reception is incredibly efficient and always finds a solution to any issue with a smile. Amy's yoga sessions are a true highlight. She has a rare ability to make everyone feel at ease from the very first moment, and her unique sound therapy leave you feeling deeply relaxed.
The absolute highlight of this Club Med, however, is the Circus team. Their performances and classes transport you into another world. Their talent, passion, and generosity are truly exceptional. A few of them completely blew me away, both as artists and as people: Kenzy with her unique grace and artistic expression; Joel with his combination of raw power, flawless precision, and seemingly effortless control; and Nacho with his fluid, elegant, and captivating movements. They make every show unforgettable and inspire everyone, whatever their level.

One final tip: don't miss breakfast at the Coco Plum restaurant. Enjoying a delicious breakfast with uninterrupted views of the sea is the perfect way to start the day.

We left with unforgettable memories and can't wait to come back!

Pros (w/a few caveats):
-Best bartender in the DR, Angel (name tag says Miguel). He really made our stay. So friendly and full of info about DR culture. We enjoyed hanging out at his bar almost every night.
-Beautiful, pristinely clean beach w/lots of chairs. They don’t let people reserve the chairs all day which is great for peak season.
-Lots of tropical drinks to choose from, which was good at masking the mid to bottom shelf liquors.
-GOs are very friendly and outgoing. They seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs and their coworkers, always smiling.
-Great for families with small kids. They have a kids club and do alot of activities throughout the day, giving parents time off to enjoy some adult time.
-Facilities were spotless and very well maintained. Only caveat was that our bathtub was visibly dirty so we never used it.
-Biting bugs get bad at night so thankful they supplied a can of good bug spray in the room.
-The 6 hour spa package is steal. It consists of several massages, two facials and a body scrub. Worth every penny and a great value for what you get.
-Fresh cut fruit is abundant which we loved.
-BBQ beach lunches twice a week are great. Loved the fresh coconut water.
-Seems to attract a good class of people - no obnoxious drunks seen on our vacation.

Areas for improvement. Note, these critiques are based on this being a 5 star resort:
-Minibar should be restocked automatically. Should not have to call front desk and ask. We asked once for the minibar to be restocked and it never was.
-People taking food orders at the restaurant should know some English. Most did but we got a few who spoke none which led for awkward encounters, incorrect orders and delays while they looked for someone who could answer our questions.
-Provide washcloths, not just towels and hand towels. It wasn’t fun washing ourselves with a wet, heavy hand towel.
-Need shading around main pool. We ended up at Zen pool because it was the only of the two pools with shade.
-Rotate the menu in the main restaurant. Only having 6 entree options for an entire week gets stale.
-Theme nights at the buffet would be nice. Sometimes the selections felt very hodge podge and there were days we didn’t really feel anything on the buffet.
-Liquor choices were mid to bottom shelf brands
-Not many spots in the resort to escape the heat. They have a large theater room that is unused all day. There’s an area they could have a bar and put of some board games and other activities to enjoy when needing a break from the heat.
-Room towels are cheap quality.
-No alcohol in room minibar.
-Wine selection was sub-par. This was a big surprise considering how many French visit this place. I would have expected some French wines included. You can buy bottles of better wine for La Cava but for a 5 star resort, I would have expected better wine at no extra charge.

If you have small children and need a break, want to spend time reading a book by the pool, want a quiet, relaxed vacation, or bonding trip with the mature girls, this is the place for you. I would not recommend this resort if you are used to staying at a resort with large pools, party people/nightclub vibes, or want many restaurant and liquor options.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda in June 2026—an easy 10/10!
What makes this resort truly special is its breathtaking location. The natural beauty of Michès is simply stunning, with pristine beaches, lush vegetation, and an atmosphere that feels peaceful and untouched. The resort blends beautifully into its surroundings, making it the perfect place to relax while enjoying one of the most privileged and unspoiled locations in the Dominican Republic.
A special thank you goes to the incredible GOs who made our vacation even more memorable. Annabelle and Marie from the Sports team brought endless energy, enthusiasm, and positivity to every activity. Their classes were always fun, motivating, and professionally led—they truly helped create the vibrant Club Med spirit that keeps guests smiling all day long.
We also want to recognize Elizabeth at the Spa. She was exceptionally kind, warm, and attentive, and her massages were among the best we've ever had. Her gentle personality and outstanding skills made every visit to the spa a highlight of our stay.
From the spectacular setting to the wonderful staff, everything exceeded our expectations. We left feeling refreshed, happy, and already looking forward to returning. Thank you to everyone at Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda for such a fantastic vacation!

We've been regulars at Turkoise over the years, but after hearing that Miches is special - and seeing that the prices were comparable - we decided to give it a try. We're so glad we did. We were absolutely delighted with our stay and would happily return.

The Beach: Although the beach looks narrow at first glance, you can walk for miles in either direction. The water is, of course, stunning. Crocs or beach shoes are recommended, as there are a few rocky areas when entering the water.

Beach Sports: The beach sports team, led by Nico, is fantastic. Whether you're interested in kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, learning to wing, or wing foil, the team is knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to help. We especially enjoyed the sunset kayak excursion, but be sure to save some energy—you'll be paddling back against the wind!

Tennis & Pickleball: Juan Carlos, Martin, and Enzo make up an outstanding tennis team. If you're a pickleball enthusiast, you'll be especially pleased with the program and instruction.

Food: The main buffet restaurant is excellent, as expected, but we found ourselves returning to Coco Plum because of its beautiful ocean views. The atmosphere, service, and food were all outstanding. Be sure not to miss the ceviche at the Coco Plum buffet—it's exceptional.

Finally the room was a revelation: we are used to comfortable, compact rooms. The garden rooms at Miches are enormous, the bathroom features a bath as well as a shower and you even have a balcony. And the air conditioning which is essential, is reliable.

Anais and severine are the best GO that I've ever met. I've been to a club med many times and all of them have never been this kind and appreciative as them. If you are a teenager and looking for friends and amazing people, go see them at the bar.
