My husband and I stayed for 12 nights in August 2026. Overall, we had a lovely, relaxing holiday. What keeps us coming back to Club Med is the professionalism and friendliness of the GOs. We are in our 60s and have some mobility issues but were well looked after by the team. Special shout outs for JJ, Liam (restaurant manager), Charo, Chris, Anty, Daniel, Zal and the rest of the bar staff, and Bruno, who is the best aqua aerobics instructor and never failed to speak to me when he saw me. Also, thanks to the Archery team, the man driving the train to the Zen pool, who was lovely, and a special mention for the security guard at the front entrance (Dah or Dal?) who either waved or spoke to us every time he saw us.
The food at the main restaurant was very good and the desserts were fantastic. The last 3 times I have been to Club Med have been to the Bali resort and the desserts in Malaysia were better. Also - a shout out to the local staff clearing tables etc. They were always very friendly and greeted us with beaming smiles.
We were also impressed with the hygiene - there are handwashing stations outside the restaurant, which are moved when there is a dinner around the pool - and hand sanitiser available elsewhere. Good job.
We loved both pools at the resort. Not sure what the water is treated with, but there is no horrible chlorine smell or itchy skin after swimming that I experience in chlorinated pools. I would like to see some shade provided over a section of the pools though, as they do in Bali. One thing that wasn't managed and irritated me no end was people leaving towels and other items on all the sun lounges at the main pool and then disappearing who knows where for hours at a time. It meant I could rarely get a lounge and certainly not two. Please put up signage that forbids "saving" lounges when people are not actually present at the pool and reinforce it.
The daily adult archery session was well-managed and safe. I was impressed by the GO sending away some people who arrived with alcoholic drinks in hand. My only gripe is that sweaty arm guards were passed directly from one person to the next. I would prefer to see them sprayed with a bit of sanitiser and given a wipe dry.
The shows at night were very good - in particular, the lion dance and the Monkey King show. In terms of after show entertainment, we preferred the more festive, party atmosphere in Bali - the dance floor was open every night in Bali and went until midnight - things were a bit quieter in Malaysia, with dance parties every 3 nights or so.
What we would like to see in all Club Med resorts is handrails for stairs and we hope this basic safety feature will be included in the upcoming renovations.
My final comment is that we missed being greeted and seated at the restaurant. I have been to the Bali Club Med under the management of three different Chefs de Village (Yoan, Eric and Houcem) and each Chef de Village and his 2IC were there every single mealtime to greet their guests on arrival. They also popped up around the resort during the day, checking on people and saying hello. I didn't realise how much difference that makes to the overall experience until it was missing. To be fair, there were occasionally a couple of staff at the restaurant entrance in Malaysia, but not the CDV or 2IC and not every day. We eventually did meet Clayton (the CDV) and he was very nice, but just not as present as we were expecting.
All that said, you can't go wrong with a Club Med holiday, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
