Exploring Hokkaido's Natural Wonders
During the summer, Hokkaido's landscapes burst into life with vibrant colours and lush foliage. Visitors can embark on scenic hikes through national parks such as Daisetsuzan and Shikotsu-Toya, where they'll encounter picturesque lakes, cascading waterfalls, and panoramic vistas. Nature enthusiasts can also explore the Shiretoko Peninsula, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rugged coastline and diverse wildlife, including brown bears and rare bird species.
A visit to Hokkaido in summer is not complete without a boat ride through Lake Toya to Nakanoshima Islands to take in the summer sights of the coastline. There will also be opportunities to see the Yezo sika deer, a subspecies of sika deer native to Hokkaido!
